There will be a spelling quiz every Friday. There will also be 5 dictation sentences using these words. I will be looking for Capitalization, Punctuation, Spacing, and Neatness as well as Spelling! Your child will have their specific list written/attached in their planner.
Math:
Unit Six: 2-D and 3-D Shapes
An inquiry into shapes around us.
We will identify the circle, oval, triangle, square, rectangle,trapezoid, hexagon and rhombus shapes.
Each shape has sides, corners, and angles(vertices).
Weekly i-ready lesson homework due every Friday
Please practice the addition facts 0-20 with flash cards daily.
Social Studies:
Economics
An inquiry into economics of a community ....ex producer and consumer, wants and needs.
Store circulars are needed for this unit (Publix, Walgreens, Target etc.)
Please send them into the classroom for the students to use!
Science:
Life Cycles
An inquiry into different life cycles around us. We will discuss the plant, frog, butterfly and human life cycles. We had 5 caterpillars growing in our classroom...they have all turned into beautiful butterflies ...and started the whole life cycle again!!! We will also discuss animal habitats and why we need to protect our Earth.
Practice At Home/HW:
Have your child read every night for 15-30 minutes. Fill out the reading log in the (R.E.D. Folders). Please take good care of the classroom library books that are sent home.
Complete one reading and one math i-ready lesson each night. A minimum of 45 minutes of i-ready math and reading lessons each week are now required by all students! Only lessons that are passed will count towards the total for the week....so please have your student take their time and concentrate!!!
Reminders/Communication:
Please remember to return your planners (agendas) every day and your yellow Friday take home folders on Mondays. These are very important for our parent/teacher communication. Please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns as well.
I am available for conferences Tues.-Thurs. (7:20-7:40 a.m. or 3:20-3:40 p.m.). Please email me the day and time ahead of time; so I will not be"double-booked". Thank you!
